Delhi’s tragic fire incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, around 3.30 AM in a four-storey residential building of Vivek Vihar, killing 9 residents, including a toddler.

As per the police, a PCR alert was received at 3.48 AM, informing Delhi Fire Services(DFS) a minute prior, and teams rushed to the spot.
More than 10 fire tenders were deployed to control the flames.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed condolences over the mishap, which is suspected to have been caused by an AC blast.

It was reported by the officials that there had been difficulties while trying to douse the flames owing to the nature of the building, as the flats were on both sides of the building.
The dead included a 1.5-year-old baby, who was amongst five other people found at the back end of the second floor.
The search began after 8 am once the fire was fully extinguished.
