Editorial Policy — India Recap

Last Updated: May 2026

Our Commitment to You

At India Recap, we believe every reader deserves accurate, clearly sourced, and honestly presented information. This page explains exactly how we find, verify, write, and publish every piece of content on this site — and what we do when we get something wrong.

We publish this policy publicly because we believe transparency is not optional for a news organization. If you ever have questions about how a specific story was reported, you can contact us directly at contact@indiarecap.com.

Who We Are

India Recap is an independent digital news and analysis publication covering Indian politics, science, technology, sports, and current affairs. We are operated by Indiarecap, Inc.

We are not affiliated with any political party, government body, corporate group, or religious organization. No external entity influences our editorial decisions.

Our funding comes from display advertising. Advertisers have no input into what we cover, how we cover it, or what conclusions we reach. Editorial and commercial operations are completely separate.

Our Editorial Mission

India Recap exists to give readers context, not just headlines.

Most breaking news is available everywhere within minutes. What is harder to find is honest analysis — content that explains what an event means, why it happened, and what comes next. That is what we aim to provide.

We are not trying to tell you what to think. We are trying to give you the information and context you need to form your own informed opinion.

How We Select Topics

We cover a story when it meets at least one of these criteria:

  • It affects a significant number of Indian citizens directly
  • It represents a meaningful development in an ongoing issue
  • It has been underreported or misrepresented elsewhere and deserves a fuller explanation
  • It involves data or analysis that adds genuine value beyond what wire reports provide

We do not publish stories purely because they are trending. Trending does not mean important.

We do not cover celebrity gossip, entertainment news, or content designed purely to generate clicks without informing readers.

Our Reporting Standards

Source Requirements

Every factual claim in every article must be traceable to a source. We use three categories of sources:

Primary sources — Government documents, official press releases, Election Commission data, court orders, parliamentary records, scientific papers. These are always preferred and linked directly wherever possible.

Named sources — Identified individuals (officials, experts, academics, eyewitnesses) who are quoted by name with their relevant credentials. We identify why each named source has relevant knowledge of the subject.

Background sources — In rare cases, sources request anonymity. We grant this only when the information cannot be obtained any other way AND the source has direct knowledge of the subject AND we can verify their identity independently. We always explain to readers why a source is unnamed.

We do not quote anonymous sources for opinion or analysis — only for specific facts they have direct knowledge of.

Verification Process

Before any factual claim is published:

  1. The writer identifies the original source of the information
  2. The claim is cross-referenced against at least one independent source
  3. Numerical data (vote counts, statistics, financial figures) is verified against the primary document
  4. If a claim cannot be independently verified, it is either removed or clearly labeled as unverified

Expert Sourcing

For analysis articles, we seek comment from people with genuine expertise in the subject. This means:

  • Academic researchers with published work in the relevant field
  • Former officials or practitioners with direct experience
  • Professionals with recognized credentials in the subject area

We always identify experts by their full name, title, institutional affiliation, and why they are qualified to comment on this specific subject. We do not quote “experts” without identifying who they are.

Artificial Intelligence Policy

India Recap does not publish AI-generated articles.

We use AI tools only as research aids — for summarizing background documents or identifying data sources. Every article published on this site is written, verified, and edited by a human being who takes editorial responsibility for its content.

If AI assistance was used in any part of the research process, this will be disclosed at the bottom of the article.

We believe AI-generated content without human editorial judgment and verification is incompatible with responsible journalism. We will not compromise on this standard.

Corrections Policy

We make mistakes. When we do, we correct them quickly, transparently, and without hiding the error.

Our corrections process:

When an error is identified — by our team, a reader, or a source — we:

  1. Verify the error independently
  2. Correct the article immediately
  3. Add a clearly labeled correction notice at the top of the article stating what was wrong, what the correct information is, and when the correction was made
  4. If the error was significant, we publish a separate correction note

We do not silently edit articles to remove errors without disclosure. We do not delete articles to hide mistakes. We do not alter publication dates to obscure when errors occurred.

To report an error: Email contact@indiarecap.com with the subject line “Correction Request” and include the article URL, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and the evidence supporting the correction. We will respond within 48 hours.

Updates and Developing Stories

News develops. We update articles when significant new information emerges.

When an article is updated after publication:

  • The original publication date is retained
  • An “Updated: [date]” note is added at the top
  • A brief note at the bottom explains what was added or changed and why

We distinguish between minor updates (fixing a typo, adding a clarifying sentence) and substantive updates (new facts that change the story). Substantive updates are always disclosed to readers.

Opinion and Analysis

India Recap publishes both reported news and analysis pieces. We distinguish between them clearly.

Reported news presents verified facts and attributed statements. The writer’s opinion does not appear.

Analysis applies editorial judgment to explain what facts mean or what their implications are. Analysis pieces are clearly labeled “Analysis” at the top of the article.

Opinion represents the personal view of a named writer or external contributor. Opinion pieces are clearly labeled “Opinion” and the author’s perspective is disclosed upfront.

We do not present opinion as news or analysis as established fact.

Conflicts of Interest

Our writers and editors are required to disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationship with subjects they cover.

If a conflict of interest exists that cannot be resolved, the writer is removed from that story.

India Recap does not accept payment, gifts, press trips, or any form of compensation from sources, companies, or individuals in exchange for coverage. We pay our own way.

Advertiser Relationships

India Recap carries display advertising. Our advertising policy:

  • Advertisers do not receive advance notice of stories about them
  • Advertisers cannot request changes to editorial content
  • Advertorials or sponsored content, if ever published, will be clearly and prominently labeled as “Sponsored Content” and will not appear in our main editorial feed
  • We do not publish affiliate links within editorial content

Currently, India Recap carries Google AdSense display advertising. AdSense ads are selected algorithmically and do not represent editorial endorsement of any advertiser.

External Links Policy

When we link to external sources, we are directing readers to information we found useful or relevant. External links are not endorsements of the linked site’s overall editorial position.

We do not accept payment for external links. We do not participate in link exchange schemes.

We welcome tips, story ideas, and information from readers. If you have information you believe deserves coverage, contact us at contact@indiarecap.com.

Tips are treated confidentially. We will not identify tip sources without explicit permission.
