Delhi witnessed Nirbhaya alike Delhi bus Gang rape of 30 year old woman, who was allegedly assaulted in a moving sleeper bus travelling from Rani Bagh to Nangloi on Monday night.
On Monday night of Delhi, a 30 year old was allegedly abducted and gang raped inside a moving sleeper bus in northwest – Rani Bagh area, police confirmed. Delhi police have arrested the driver and his helper as suspects in the case and also directed a CCTV and forensic probe into the incident.
Suspect Umesh – the driver of the bus and Ramendra, the helper are identified as residents of Uttar Pradesh and have been sent to judicial custody for now said police.
As per Hindustan times report, the woman who lives with her family in Pitampura and worked at a factory in Mangolpuri, was returning to home after work when the incident occurred.
Saraswati Vihar Bus Stop
As per the complaint filed by the survivor, she had traveled a portion of the journey via an e-rickshaw, followed by walking near the bus stand of block B in Saraswati Vihar locality at 12.30 am on Tuesday.
As per reports filed by the police, a registered sleeper bus coming from Bihar halted near the bus stand when traveling towards Nangloi for picking up passengers. The survivor approached the man standing near the bus to enquire about the time. She was made to enter the bus after making a gesture to approach her.
The woman told police that she was sexually assaulted by the two accused while the moving sleeper bus continued towards Nangloi for several kilometres. Investigators said the bus travelled nearly seven kilometres during the alleged assault, according to Indian Express.
Police added that the woman was later abandoned near Nangloi Metro station after the bus stopped there.
“At about 4.45 am, a call was received at Nangloi police station. The case was later transferred to Rani Bagh police station,” a police officer said, as reported by Indian Express.

CCTV and Forensic Probe
After the survivor reported to the police, she underwent a medical examination at Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital. On the basis of her complaint, FIR was registered under the sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, on the charges on gang rape.
Further the accused – the driver and helper had been traced and arrested by police also the Delhi sleeper bus in which the crime happened was seized by police during the probe.
As per Hindustan Times report, CCTV footage has been examined for locating the travel route taken by bus while committing the crime to understand the chronology of the incident.
The forensic team also has been present for collecting evidence from inside the bus, as per reports.
The bus had curtains covering the windows, making it difficult for outsiders to view inside stated one of the police.
In the probe, police found that the bus was travelling from Delhi to Bihar when the accused boarded the woman in Nangloi when the alleged crime happened, as per Indian express.
AAP Targets Police Delay
Saurabh Bharadwaj from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) questioned on prior revelation of information regarding the gang raped not been disclosed by the Delhi police, sparking polititical repercussions.
“We want to ask the police commissioner how a bus kept moving for hours in a central area like Rani Bagh while a woman was allegedly gang-raped and later thrown out,” Bharadwaj told reporters.
Further investigation is ongoing and additional evidence is being examined in relation to the case. This includes examining CCTV footage and other forensic evidence to determine the full time line of events.
