Lotus Blooms in West Bengal. Shortly after counting started, BJP achieved its majority mark, defeating Mamata’s TMC Assembly elections 2026.
A historic win for Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal, “lotus blooms,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, defeating Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, which has been in power for three consecutive years.
The Election Commission of India began its counting, shortly after which BJP widened the gap by leading the poll numbers, leaving behind its rival TMC.
As per vote counting data, ECI said, BJP leads with around 205 seats in West Bengal, while Mamata was struggling to match the numbers, with 82 seats.
PM Modi said on X, “The 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections will be remembered forever. People’s power has prevailed, and BJP’s politics of good governance have triumphed. I bow to every person of West Bengal.”

BJP to form Independent govt. Bengal
With the recent poll update, BJP has secured 200+ seats in West Bengal, putting an end to a 15 year reign of Mamata Banerjee.
BJP has won 54 seats and leads in the other 145, while the All India Trinamool Congress won 26 seats, and it is leading in 57 others.
