Before the official release of the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, the focus and attention are turning toward its bold design that has more in common with a professional camera than it does a phone. Partnered with the extremely well-known camera company, Hasselblad, the newly designed phone focuses on taking pictures as an integral part of its design. The phone has a unique rear-configured layout, uses quality materials, and has a large circular camera module that signals the focus of Oppo to maintain their status as one of the best camera phone manufacturers today.
A Smartphone That Looks Like a Camera
The back of the Find X9 Ultra looks like a professional camera made by Hasselblad upon first glance.
The metal chassis is finished with gunmetal grey paint with some gold accents, which give the Find X9 Ultra a sophisticated look in natural lighting. The back of the phone has split vegan leather panels that are somewhat recessed beneath the metal chassis, creating visual interest as well as a different texture when holding the phone.
When the phone is turned horizontally, the branding from both Hasselblad and Oppo is located at the top of the phone, matching the way cameras generally read out for display purposes.
Hasselblad’s orange accent colours were also used in this design as a highlight for the camera shutter button and around the camera module to complete the look.
Unique Camera Module Design
The phone’s camera module is an essential part of its character.
The housing of the camera is shaped like a circle, but the glass that covers the lenses has a very subtly hexagonal shape to it as an interesting design element drawn from other Ultra-series Oppo phones which previously had the same type of design.
Both of these components create a unique appearance for the phone when compared to other flagship models.
The camera bump is extremely large and thus will greatly elevate the device when placed on a flat surface.
Even though the size of the camera bump increases the overall thickness or weight of the device, first impressions indicate it still feels quite well-balanced while being held in your hand.
Powerful Camera Hardware
While Oppo has not announced the full specs for the phone yet, they have teased some information about the camera features on their social media. Based on these teasers, the expected features of the camera system include:
– 200 MP 1-inch main camera
– 200 MP portrait telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom
– 50 MP ultra-wide camera
– 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom
If all of this is confirmed to be true, it would put the Find X9 Ultra at the top of the list for the most powerful camera smartphones available today.
Additionally, Oppo has shown off the Find X9 Ultra specifically paired with a large detachable telephoto lens and other accessories, implying that there will be photography-related accessories in the same manner that the Find X8 Ultra had photography-related accessories.
Premium Colours and Materials
The version shown in early previews comes in a colour called Tundra Umber, which highlights the phone’s camera-inspired aesthetic.
Another colour option, Canyon Orange, will also be available, though it reportedly lacks some of the retro camera styling that makes the Tundra Umber variant stand out.
Together, the colour choices reinforce Oppo’s intention to make the device feel closer to a photography tool than a typical smartphone.
Launch Date Confirmed
Oppo has confirmed that the Find X9 Ultra will be officially unveiled on April 21, with a global release expected soon after.
The announcement could intensify competition in the premium Android smartphone market, particularly for brands like OnePlus and other flagship makers focusing on camera performance.
A New Direction for Camera Phones
Smartphone brands have increasingly leaned into camera-focused designs in recent years, but the Find X9 Ultra takes the concept further by making the entire device feel like a dedicated photography tool.
If the camera performance matches the ambitious design, Oppo’s latest flagship could become one of the most talked-about camera phones of the year.
More details about performance, display, and software are expected to be revealed when the device is officially launched later this month.
