The much-awaited sequel to Hideo Kojima’s 2019 game ‘Death Stranding’ is finally set for release soon!

There’s a lot of excitement surrounding this release amongst the gaming community, not only because it’s the next chapter in the story of Sam Bridge, but also because it comes from the legendary mind of Hideo Kojima.

Let’s look at everything that makes it a must-play, and also the most anticipated release of 2025.

Death Stranding 2 Release Date & Availability

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will be available to play exclusively on the PlayStation 5, on June 26, 2025.

Though there’s no details on the Windows release as of now, it’s likely to follow in the next year or two.

Speaking of other platforms (Yes, Xbox), it’s unlikely that players might be able to experience Death Stranding 2 on them anytime soon. If we go by the previous game? The Xbox release was announced on the game’s 5 year anniversary.. Which is quite a lot of waiting time.

So if you’re looking to play Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece anytime soon, you’re going to hop onto the PlayStation 5.

As for where you can get it in India? The game is available on the official Playstation Store for Rs. 4,999.

Why is Death Stranding 2 a big deal?

Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

It’s a game unlike any other and believed by many to be the first, and one of the only games that truly harnesses the power of the PlayStation 5 with its unbelievable atmospherics and photorealistic graphics.

But besides that, its  largely because of how damn good the first one was in every single aspect imaginable,  and also because it’s set to take the already impressive story of Death Stranding to the next chapter. The story will take you 1 year ahead of where Death Stranding ended.

What to expect from Death Stranding 2’s story?

Even in the middle of a world plagued by an unbelievable crisis, Sam Briggs, who now is the father of Lou, his bridge baby, is forced to continue his job as a porter.

Though he wanted to settle down – due to unforeseen circumstances, he’s forced to get back up and be on-the-go once again. And hence in Death Stranding 2, Sam continues his once ordinary job of being a cargo carrier in a now extraordinary world, crossing through fires, floods and earthquakes.

So while the flow of the way in which the story and gameplay progresses will be a little similar, it couldn’t be more different in terms of what it offers.

One of the best parts, as reported by players who’ve already finished the game in their early-access playthrough – is how much more emotional, connected and character driven the whole game feels.

What to expect from Death Stranding 2’s gameplay?

The gameplay will offer a lot of opportunities to learn about the world of Death Stranding, with artefacts, puzzles and items scattered throughout the game.

Traversal, cargo movement and combat experiences are improved and expanded upon in fun ways too, with a wider, fresh array of enemies and bosses to fight with.

So, playing through the story is going to be a lot more fun this time around.

With fun, sometimes troubling and unexpected side missions – you’ll have plenty of time to spend in the world of Death Stranding 2.

Death Stranding 2 is a must-have for PlayStation 5 owners

If you haven’t experienced the world of Death Stranding by now, now’s the perfect time for it.

You can either go through the first game, which we highly recommend – or you can brush up on some lore and world info by watching 2-3 recaps on YouTube, and dive straight into Death Stranding 2.

Either way, Death Stranding is undoubtedly going to be an unforgettable experience for you, and is truly one of the games that will leave a deep impact on you, and maybe even make you cry.
