CBSE Physics Exam 2026: Was it Really as Tough as Everyone Says?

The wait is finally over for thousands of Class 12 students across India. Yesterday, February 20, students walked out of their exam halls after completing one of the most feared subjects: Physics. While some left with a smile, many others looked a bit stressed. We have been listening to what everyone is saying, and the reactions are definitely mixed!

What the Students are Saying

As soon as the clock struck 1:30 PM, social media was full of students sharing their thoughts. The general feeling among many was that the paper was quite lengthy and required a lot of thinking.

  • The “JEE” Level Challenge: A few students felt that some of the numerical questions were so tough they felt like they belonged in a competitive exam like JEE.
  • Time Management: Many mentioned that they struggled to finish the whole paper. The multiple choice questions (MCQs) in Section A were unexpectedly tricky and took up more time than they should have.
  • Ray Optics and Electricity: Questions from these chapters were quite heavy on calculations, which made some students feel a bit overwhelmed.

What the Teachers are Saying

Teachers and subject experts had a slightly more balanced view of the paper. Most of them rated it as “moderate to slightly challenging.”

  • Balanced but Analytical: Teachers noted that the paper was well-structured and strictly followed the NCERT syllabus. However, it moved away from simple memorization. Instead, it focused on whether students truly understood the concepts.
  • Scoring Opportunities: Experts pointed out that Section E, which had the long five-mark questions, was actually quite scoring. Most of the derivations in this section were familiar to those who had practiced previous years’ papers.
  • Focus on Clarity: The consensus among educators is that students who studied their textbooks line-by-line and focused on understanding “how” and “why” things happen would have found the paper fair.

The Final Verdict

Overall, the 2026 Physics paper seems to be a message from the board: they want students to stop cramming and start thinking. While it was certainly time-consuming, it wasn’t impossible.

If you found it tough, remember that you aren’t alone! Many other students felt the same way, and the evaluation process usually takes these things into account. Now that Physics is behind you, it is time to take a deep breath and focus on your next exam. You’ve got this!
