Kanwar Yatra 2025: Dates, Importance, and Extent
Kanwar Yatra 2025 starts on July 11 and runs through the 23rd, marking the sacred period of Shravan and ending on Sawan Shivratri. During this period, millions of Kanwariyas will participate in the yearly devotion of Lord Shiva, where they travel on foot or by vehicle from Delhi, UP, Haryana, Punjab, and other nearby regions to fetch Ganga water for Shiv Pooja in temples. Godly engagements of this measure call for meticulous strategies and management, especially for bustling centers like Noida, which operate as pivotal hubs for this devotional journey.
Traffic Restrictions by the Noida Police: Date and Area of Impact
To maintain order for the smooth and safe movement of the public and devotees, Noida Police has also prepared a detailed traffic restriction plan, which will be in effect from 10 PM July 11 to July 25, 2025. The restrictions include barring heavy, medium, and light commercial goods vehicles coming from Delhi and going towards Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Moradabad, and other important regions. Such actions will help in minimizing traffic jams, diminishing chances of collisions, and ensuring smooth movement of the Kanwar Yatra processions.

Important Road Closures and Traffic Diversions in Noida
Several important highways and intercity roads will function under a traffic rerouting system during the yatra. Key diversions are as follows:
- Goods vehicles coming from Chilla Red Light and going towards Ghaziabad, Hapur, or Moradabad need to take the Eastern Peripheral Expressway using the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
- All DND Flyway, Delhi-Badarpur Border, and Okhla Barrage vehicles will also be redirected to the Eastern Peripheral.
- Trucks coming from NIB, Model Town, Chhijarsi, and Taj Highway are required to take the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
- Users of the MP-01 elevated road will also be redirected to other routes.
- Aligarh, Bulandshahr, and Sikandrabad coming through NH-91 and Dadri headed towards Delhi will need to take the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
- Vehicles coming from Secunderabad and Kasna to Delhi will be routed through the Sirsa roundabout for Pari Chowk.
- Pakshi Vihar Gate-bound traffic coming from Chilla Red Light will not be allowed on the road.
Essential service vehicles like ambulances and government cars are not bound by these restrictions. Police ask all commuters to check traffic conditions in real time and refrain from using the roads if possible.
Enhanced Safety, Collaboration, and Facilities
Noida Police, together with authorities from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Rajasthan, have established an interstate WhatsApp group for real-time coordination on route monitoring, crowd control, and security logistics. Moreover, key intersections have been outfitted with sufficient illumination, lighting, electronic information boards, and directional indicators to assist both Kanwariyas and other travelers. To support the well-being of pilgrims, medical camps and hydration stations, along with rest areas, have been established.

Supplementary Actions: Business Closures and Appeals
Out of respect for religious sentiments, over 200 liquor shops located along the yatra routes in Noida and Ghaziabad will be covered or closed during the pilgrimage. Furthermore, other members of the public have been appealed to avoid unnecessary journeys and stick to diversion routes while using the helpline (9971009001) or WhatsApp (7065100100) for urgent assistance only. This proactive administrative measure intends to harness religious sentiment while managing urban movement and public safety.
