A Life Full of Promise: And Yet Easily Misplaced Sindhu Larson, Sing Squadron Leader Lokender
Sindhu Lokender Singh, one of the two pilots of the Indian Air Force Jaguar fighter jet who died in an accident in the Churu district of Rajasthan on 09 July 2025, had recently gotten married. Aged 33 years, Lokender had undergone a life-changing event as well with the birth of their son on June 10. He’s worked through struggles of conflicting schedules before, so this arrangement should’ve been easy in principle, but it turned out right before the wedding. As recently as June 30, wedded Indians knew selflessly to family.
Family Background and Immortal Heritage
Lokender was born in Kheri Sadh village, located in the Rohtak district of Haryana. He had two siblings and was the youngest in the family. They had a strong connection with public service, as his father, Joginder Singh, had retired as a university superintendent; his mother worked as a schoolteacher; his elder brother was working in a multinational company; and his elder sister had served as a short-service commissioned officer in the Air Force. Since a very young age, Lokender wished to “touch the skies,” and his family describes him as a bright student who was motivated to serve the country by flying.
The Dangerous Explosion and Its Consequences

After taking off from Suratgarh airbase, the Jaguar trainer jet was supposed to undergo a training mission just outside Bhanuda village. Witnesses recounted the explosion and how the aircraft was out of control before crashing into a field instead of the town, which would’ve made the tragedy worse. Both Lokender and Flight Lieutenant Rishi Raj Singh, who was the other pilot, unfortunately perished in the incident. Although villagers rushed to the site with emergency services, there were no lives to be saved.
A Pattern of IAF Jaguar Incidents: Causation and Safety Concerns
As of now, this particular incident was the third for the IAF within March 2025. With the constant blame cycle, it seems concern regarding the Jaguar’s safety record and indefinite lifespan poses a real threat. In response to this incident, a court of IAF engineers was ordered to deduce the cause of the crash, which further shows concern over the jet’s operational performance.
Everyone’s Hero Is Gone
The entire nation, along with Lokender’s family and colleagues, is mourning his recent demise. He is eulogized as a skilled aviator and dedicated serviceman, but also as a caring spouse and young father whose existence ended all too soon. The IAF’s profound sadness, along with the rest of the nation, attests to their empathy towards the grieving families as messages of condolences. Tributes are pouring in for both pilots who selflessly gave their lives for the love of the country.
