Khan Sir’s Viral Conversation With Tejashwi Yadav Shines at Low-Key Wedding Reception

Khan Sir

At the center of Patna, a simple wedding reception became a news-making affair not for its size but for a frank and going-viral conversation between two high-profile people: Khan Sir and Tejashwi Yadav.

Popular educator Faizal Khan, commonly referred to as Khan Sir, held a wedding reception on June 2 to officially introduce his wife, AS Khan, to the public for the first time. Though the event hosted a who’s who of guests, including Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and teachers such as Alakh Pandey (Physics Wallah) and Neetu Ma’am, it was a light-hearted interview between Khan Sir and Bihar’s Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, that caught the internet’s attention.

“Byah Kab Hua?” – A Viral Moment is Born

In a video that has since gone viral across social media platforms, Tejashwi Yadav can be seen approaching Khan Sir and casually asking, “Kya hua, byah kab hua?” (What happened? When did you get married?).

Khan Sir, with his signature wit, replied, “Abhi jo India-Pakistan conflict chal raha tha, usi beech” (During the recent India-Pakistan conflict). The crowd around them burst into laughter, but Khan Sir didn’t stop there. He playfully added,

“Model, aap hi ka tha sir… chupchaap se karke baad mein batana hai. 12-13 log the sir. Jaise aap kiye na, vaise hi. Humne socha kahan se copy karenge, aapka hi copy kar liya, sir.”

(It is your model I followed, sir.). A quiet wedding followed by an announcement. Just 12–13 people were present, just like you. I thought, whom should I copy? So I copied you.)

Tejashwi’s Wedding: A Blueprint for Secrecy

For context, Tejashwi Yadav had himself opted for a low-key wedding back in December 2021. He married his long-time friend Rachel Godinho in a private ceremony held at his sister Misa Bharti’s farmhouse in Delhi’s Sainik Farms. The guest list included only close family and a few political allies such as Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav. He had explained that the small gathering allowed both families to connect better and also helped avoid the chaos his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav had faced during his high-profile wedding. Additionally, COVID-19 concerns played a role in keeping it intimate.

Khan Sir, it seems, took notes.

“You Were the First to” Know”—Khan Sir’s Bond With His Students

Before the reception, Khan Sir had shared the news of his marriage in perhaps the most Khan Sir-esque way possible during a live coaching session. “My wedding date had already been set, but as tensions flared between India and Pakistan, we decided to keep it simple,” he told his students. He also promised them a special feast, keeping true to his grounded and student-first personality.

A Night of Elegance and Eminence

Though subdued was the tone of his wedding, the Patna reception for the newlywed couple was just the opposite. At a posh hotel, it witnessed a prominent gathering from political as well as educational circles. Among those who were present were Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, Education Minister Sunil Kumar, Union Minister of State Raj Bhushan Nishad, and former minister Mukesh Sahni, to name just a few.

A high point of the evening was an emotional performance by the world-famous Sabri Brothers. The evening also saw the public debut of Khan Sir’s parents and larger family, giving a personal dimension to the otherwise high-publicity event.

More Than Just a Wedding

The online exchange with Tejashwi Yadav has not only amused millions but also mirrored the growing proximity of public figures to the people they influence. Khan Sir’s existence and decision are relatable to a wide range of Indians, especially the youth, who find him as a representative of humility, intelligence, and genuineness.

While the world admired the sophistication of the reception, it was Khan Sir’s capacity to remain down-to-earth and witty even on the day of such great importance that stole the show.
